thumbFirstCoast“Our bicycle tours are based in Fernandina Beach Florida at the Amelia Oceanfront Bed and Breakfast, a quaint nautical themed inn. These tours are in the beautiful and historic area of Amelia Island, Fort George Island, Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Mary’S Ga., St. Augustine and Jacksonville, in what is called the First Coast. They are fully supported tours with a ride leader, sweep and SAG vehicle with scheduled food stops. There are many oceanfront routes and marsh views as well as historic sites of interest. The tours include airport transfers and assembly of the guests’ bicycles. There is a rental option through our local bicycle shop available, but in general guests are expected to bring their own…”

Amelia Island Kayak“Guided tours are planned to go with the current and start with a short instruction on land. You will then paddle to a sandbar for a snack and swim in warm weather. Then paddle to the take out location. Along the way the naturalists describe the salt marsh eco-system, critters and local history… We supply the kayak or canoe, PFD’s, paddles and map. Depending on the tide and weather we can make suggestions routes, local sites and what to avoid. All rentals leave from our location and need to stay here in the State Park. So that means paddling against the current half the time. We have sit in and sit on top kayaks.”

In fact, Amelia was recently voted #6 among Top 10 North American Islands by Conde Nast Traveler’s 2008 Reader’s Choice Awards, making it the highest ranked island destination in Florida for two consecutive years…”
