A Prize Raffle for our First Quarter Guests

In a world where quality and price are much more dependent on peer reviews that “old-fashioned” advertising, we offered our guests a chance to win a three night vacation on us, for leaving a fair and honest review of their stay with us on any one of Tripadvisor, Bed and Breakfast.com, booking.com, priceline.com, yahoo travel etc. websites. After all we just took over the Inn on January first and in spite of many improvements to building, beds and breakfast, we wanted to learn what else can be done to improve our guests’ vacations with us.

We received 53 reviews and to our delight, all ranged from very positive to raving. We already knew from the many nice entries in our in room Guest Books, that people loved their stay, but to get 53 great reviews posted out there in the world, where people make real decisions how and where they want to spend their vacation money, made us very proud and excited.

And when we were hosting the monthly meeting of our local European American Business Club in early April, we asked our friends from the Fernandina Pirates to come and invade the party and pick the winner of our first quarterly drawing for a 3 night stay on us- in front of the video camera. No hanky panky. Even though the quality is a little iffy because of rapidly diminishing light, it is clear that Canadian Boutique owners Paul and Delores from Southampton on Lake Huron were the lucky ones.

We wish everyone could have won, because we have learned that people staying in our little bed and breakfast, literally carved out of a dune on the beach, are special people. Fun loving, mostly easy going, interesting, wine lovers! We have loved them all and hope to see them back soon, so they can enjoy the many improvements and additions we implemented as a result of their suggestions.

Amelia Island Blues Festival Sept 14-15 and 16

Early in 2010 a group of 5 locals got together to discuss the possibility of putting an annual blues festival together in September of every year. The first festival was staged in September 2011 and became an instant hit in blues and music circles with thousands of visitors. The finale of the two day Amelia Island Blues Festival event packed with regional and national talent, was a jam with headliner Albert Castiglia, Hurricane Wilson and 16 year old blind prodigy Conrad Oberg in a tribute to Pinetop Perkins and Willie Big Eyes Smith, legendary blues greats who unfortunately passed away in 2011. The 2012 line up is entirely contracted and the list includes headliners such as Shane Dwight on Friday Night, Shemekia Copeland on Saturday and David Gerald from Detroit on Sunday. Here is the complete line up schedule. If you want enjoy this festival which is held at walking distance from our bed and breakfast, right on the beach, there are several reasons why you should book early.
