Amelia Island has over the years adopted a multitude of Festivals, more or less anchored in the massive success of the annual Amelia Island 8 Flags Shrimp Festival in the first weekend of May. More than 150,000 people from Atlanta Georgia to Tampa Florida overwhelm the sleepy historic district on the Fernandina Beach Waterfront into a 4 day party.

Today we have Film, Book and Nature Festivals; we have International Blues and Jazz Festivals and even Sunsplash has brought reggae music to our shores; we have huge fishing tournaments, the world famous Concours d’Elegance annual classic car show and auction; we have famous golf and tennis events and the festival year doesn’t stop until the second weekend in November when the International Petanque America Tournament attracts teams from all over the world come down to Amelia to play the old French Ball Game.

Destination Beach Weddings

We can accommodate small beach weddings and outdoor receptions of 50 to 60 people and small catered dinners. To use the Inn as your base for a beach wedding you must rent the entire Inn for a 3 day minimum; rate is $1000.00 a day.

The inn can sleep a maximum of 24 people comfortably. A 30% deposit is required at booking, which is refundable for up to 6 weeks before the wedding.

There is an oceanfront deck available for use as well as the beach. A room large enough for a reception is not available. Wedding parties in the past used an outdoor tent which is also recommended in case of rain or midsummer heat.

Innkeeper TJ can be your “go to” gal in planning your wedding from flowers to decorations, entertainment, caterers and photography (videography) to transportation and officiating.

Amelia Island Blues Festival Sept 14-15 and 16

Early in 2010 a group of 5 locals got together to discuss the possibility of putting an annual blues festival together in September of every year. The first festival was staged in September 2011 and became an instant hit in blues and music circles with thousands of visitors. The finale of the two day Amelia Island Blues Festival event packed with regional and national talent, was a jam with headliner Albert Castiglia, Hurricane Wilson and 16 year old blind prodigy Conrad Oberg in a tribute to Pinetop Perkins and Willie Big Eyes Smith, legendary blues greats who unfortunately passed away in 2011. The crowd went wild and a festival was born. Here is a video of that finale:

The 2012 line up is already mostly contracted and the list should be ready for publishing by January 15, 2012. If you want enjoy this festival which is held at walking distance from our bed and breakfast, right on the beach, there are several reasons why you should book early.
